Job Description
  • Develop new performance and aging models for fuel cells, batteries, and other devices
  • Integrate machine learning to capture complex experimental phenomena and accelerate solution time of physical models
  • Perform numerical simulations to identify performance limitations, optimize cell designs, and develop novel operating and controls strategies
  • Develop multiscale models together with materials and systems modelers
  • Collaborate with experimentalists to parameterize and validate state-of-the-art electrochemical models
  • Collaborate with top universities and our partners in the Silicon Valley


Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in chemical engineering, chemistry, mechanical engineering, materials science, applied mathematics, or applied physics.
  • 2+ years research experience in applied mathematics, thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, transport phenomena, and numerical methods.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of electrochemistry, especially fuel cells and batteries, and the solving of partial differential equations.
  • Experience with Matlab, COMSOL, Python, and/or C/C++
  • Autonomy, attention to detail, flexibility, creativity, excellent communication and teamwork skills.
