Your Role and Responsibilities
Job Description:
In this Sales Manager position, you will be responsible for leading a team of sellers. You will give them direction and help them execute the sales plans of Global Business Services activities for multiple, complex and strategically important accounts for IBM. You will guide and manage sellers as they hunt, progress, and close opportunities for GBS offerings, including strategic consulting, systems integration, and application management services. The Sales Manager is relied on as the expert and trusted advisor on matters related to sales management, and related organizations, processes and practices.
Qualified candidates must have a vision and clear definition of success and translate that understanding into their responsibilities to manage the sale of IBM offerings, solutions, and services. This includes sales cadence preparation and support, client satisfaction assessment and improvement as well as compliance with appropriate sales related practices
The Sales Manager is also expected to interact with senior client executives, which can include the CEO, CFO, CIO, Board of Directors and evaluation committees. They are required to have an in-depth understanding of the client's business, goals, strategies and industry trends and directions. The Sales Manager leads with GBS’s services and consulting disciplines which are required to meet clients’ desired outcomes. These deals are intended to increase IBM's services revenue within the account and may include any of the following:
Application Services
Business Consulting Services
Hybrid Cloud Transformation
Hybrid Cloud Management
Design and Business Strategy
Talent Management/Talent Frameworks
NextGen Applications
Salesforce
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Sales and Consulting experience, preferably quota-carrying - 8+ years, 5 years in a managerial capacity
  • Cloud/Cloud Services sales and/or delivery experience - 5+ years
  • Has the unique ability to collaborate across all levels, and demonstrates executive presence
  • Thinks conceptually, creatively, and is pragmatic; a problem solver
  • Has outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Has strong organization and time-management skills
  • Has strong coaching/mentoring skills
