Your Role and Responsibilities
The Automation Test Specialist is a hands-on role that requires a demonstrated knowledge of software testing methodologies and tools. Using in-depth analysis and test design skills, you'll work directly with business and IT organizations to develop and deliver test strategies, test plans, and test cases for multiple small to medium size projects. Your responsibilities include analyzing business requirements, designing, executing, and automating the test cases. An understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) as well as a demonstrated understanding of the various phases of software testing is required. The ideal candidate must have at least 1 year of experience with hands-on Testing including writing and executing test cases, use cases, test scenarios, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect/incident tracking, and release planning. Candidates must also have working knowledge and experience with functional testing and regression testing and with formal testing tools such as Hewlett Packard Quality Center (HPQC), Quick Test Pro, IBM Rational Tools, Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) etc.
In addition candidates should have experience with analyzing business processes and user requirements/technical requirements, analyzing high/low level design documentation, estimating system testing timelines, utilizing change management across version releases, defect tracking management and resolution, providing status updates and communications, and release planning and management. You should also have experience with programming automated test scripts, automated testing, and a majority of the following: System Integrated Testing (SIT), Business Acceptance Testing (BAT), Commerce Solution Testing, DB Testing, and Test harnesses.
Successful candidates for these positions will work on-site at the IBM Client Innovation Center in Monroe, Louisiana. The IBM Client Innovation Center is an in-bound delivery model where we support our clients from our Monroe center. However, some travel is expected, and all candidates must be willing and able to travel to meet our client needs across the US. Travel is typically related to knowledge transfer and training at the client site (Monday thru Friday). You are expected to travel up to 50% of the time post-covid. This is a traditional office position. You must live in, or be willing to relocate to, Monroe, Louisiana within 30 days of the center permanently reopening. . This is not a work from home position.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • At least 1 years’ experience in Software Testing
  • Experience in Agile Scrum environments and with virtual teams.
  • At least 1 years experience in core JAVA, Selenium, TestNG.
  • Experience in Continuous testing tools like Jenkins, Maven, GIT, etc
  • Experience in REST/SOAP UI & API Testing
  • Experience in Database testing using SQL
  • Excellent client interaction and communication skills.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
At least 2 years’ experience in creating automation testing strategy/test plan and automation design documents
At least 2 years’ experience in standard test methodologies like SDLC, Agile etc.
At least 2 years’ experience in scripting with languages like Java, C# etc.
At least 2 years hands on experience in developing automation test scripts as also in creation of test automation framework and design.
Experience in core JAVA, Selenium, TestNG, jUnit.
Experience in Continuous testing and DevOPS tools like Jenkins, Maven, GIT, etc
Understanding of the OOP concept
Experience in REST/SOAP UI & API Testing
Experience in writing Database queries using SQL
Excellent client interaction and communication skills.
