The Azure Global Mission Platform team is looking for a strong, motivated, independent, and energetic program manager to drive complex project requirements, cross-team communication, and execution accountability across both technology and business organizations, in order to accelerate service onboarding and customer adoption of Azure Government cloud. This role will be responsible to identify and/or respond to specific requests that address un-met needs for our US government-based customers. The individual must actively seek information and test assumptions, navigate within a highly matrixed and ambiguous environment, determine measures of success for operations, and lead others in scoping problems by identifying key issues, inputs, stakeholders, and outcomes.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate across Microsoft and Azure, including service teams, business functions, foundational teams and customer facing organizations, to continuously improve the speed and quality of service launch.
  • Drive product readiness initiatives and develop scalable ways to launch those initiatives, leveraging the tools, processes and platforms that service teams utilize.
  • Partner with engineering, infrastructure, marketing, compliance, and other Microsoft leadership teams to translate customer demand signals into platform priorities and unblock and/or accelerate future Azure growth.
  • Partner closely with systems and tooling teams to drive consistency in the way teams use and interpret the data; always seeking ways to increase automation, adding richness to the data thereby improving the value that our tools deliver to internal customers.
  • Support the development and execution of the roadmap of services for Azure Government clouds.
  • Drive automation and efficiency in the Azure’s security authorization process to accelerate the rate that innovation can reach government customers.
  • Drive and effectively manage large strategic and complex projects, with executive visibility and many critical dependencies.
  • Engage with colleagues across a large, diverse, and geographically distributed organization to drive decisive action that delivers results. This requires building relationships and trust with senior stakeholders to broker solutions that meet Azure financial and engineering priorities.
  • Interface with Azure engineering, operations teams and other internal Microsoft groups to gain buy in for service launch delivering features and capabilities based on Customer demand.
  • Ingest feedback, data and requirements from multiple disparate sources, devise optimal solutions and bring back into our product groups, enabling our platform to offer new features, products, and solutions, faster for Microsoft and our highly secure customers.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience working the Government market sector serving Local, State, and / or Federal Government agencies (including Civilian, Department of Defense or the Intelligence Community).
  • 2+ years of experience in product, project, or program management with large scale services.
  • BS or higher degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Skilled at using data to draw insights, answer hard questions, make decisions, and guide actions.
  • Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and communicate complex ideas in a clear, effective, and motivating manner.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Candidates must have an active TS/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications / Skills:
  • 7+ years of project management or team leadership experience (not necessarily large numbers of people management)
  • Proven problem solver that will easily adapt and overcome with minimal supervision, at times. Fast learner that isn’t afraid to experiment with new devices and software releases.
  • Deep knowledge of customers that leverage Azure Government clouds and their mission.
  • Be able to ramp quickly to understand and solve complex problems. This might be integration of technologies or policy & environmental issues that are blocking a scenario for a customer.
  • Ability to think outside of the box bringing new approaches or different ways of doing things to an existing problem space.
  • Excellent Communication Skills and Situational Awareness. You will be working closely with product groups across Microsoft, field personnel, as well as customer facing teams. You are be able to adjust your approach and vernacular to the specific audience.
  • Proven ability to make quick, thoughtful, and defensible decisions from a position of ambiguity.
  • Technical problem solving and analytical skills with a strong aptitude for solving and delivering streamlined business solutions.
  • Experience managing high-visibility projects with multiple work streams and senior partners; demonstrated escalation management in complex environment.
  • Understanding of government information systems compliance standards (FedRAMP High, DoD IL5/6, ICD 503)
  • Ability to travel approximately 0-25% of the time and drive between facilities.
