About the Team
The Data Platform and Observability team is based in Pleasanton,CA; Boston,MA and Dublin, Ireland. We enable real time insights across Workday’s platforms, infrastructure and applications. Our focus is on the development of a large scale distributed data platform to support mission critical Workday applications.
The team provides software for collection, ingestion, storage & visualization of critical data assets. We handle 100s of terabytes of data in the form of billions of messages produced daily by Workday applications and underlying services. About the Role
Role & Responsibilities
You will design and build a sophisticated Metadata management system that acts as the central nervous system for all of our Data Platform components.
You will design and build clean, intuitive, efficient, user friendly and flexible UI using Java, React JS and other technologies to allow user interaction with the data management services.
Designing and implementing scalable web services, applications, and APIs.
Managing the end-to-end life cycle for the production of software and applications
You will work with all aspects of data processing with a keen eye for data quality, data integrity and data availability.
Nice to have
You have a BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field with 6-8 years of hands-on experience.
You must have strong experience and solid understanding of high performance microservice system design and implementation.
You have experience with building API services (REST/gRPC etc) that scale under heavy load and are an expert at scaling such systems. You will design and build REST APIS that will serve both UI and program modules.
You must have strong experience on relational databases design development, preferably with AWS RDS experience. Have strong experience on database performance tuning and optimization. Have experience using caching mechanisms such as Redis, Memcached etc.
You have experience and a good understanding of authentication/authorization design and pattern, like JWT and OAUTH.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
You have strong communication skills both written and verbal.
Observability domain knowledge.
Experience working with Public cloud (GCP, AWS, etc).
Experience with Containers, Kubernetes, Service Mesh and related technologies.
Good understanding of Hadoop + query/compute engines like Hive, Presto & Spark with performance tuning experience.
Experience working with open source projects
